Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water, about 75–85 F
  • 3 tablespoons warm milk
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 & 1/3 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fine salt
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Method

  1. Mix warm water, milk, yeast, and sugar. Wait 10 minutes.
  2. In a second bowl, beat the egg.
  3. Combine flour, salt, butter in your mixer. Mix until butter is pebble-sized.
  4. Add liquid mix and egg to the flour. Mix 5-8 minutes.
  5. Shape sticky dough into ball. Cover and let double (this will take between one and three hours depending on your room temperature).
  6. Divide dough into 8 portions, shape into balls.
  7. Rest balls 1-2 hours, brush with egg wash.
  8. Preheat oven 400°F, add a water-filled pan in the bootom of the oven to heklp create steam.
  9. Bake 15-20 min until golden.
  10. Cool baked buns on rack.
